Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist (PT) will provide evaluation, treatment, and consultation services to residents of a small Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) on a contract basis.

 

The PT assesses and addresses residents’ physical, mobility, positioning, strength, balance, coordination, and functional needs.

 

The PT develops and implements individualized treatment plans and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary team members, caregivers, and other service providers to promote residents’ health safety, independence, mobility, and overall quality of life.

 

Provide staff training and consultation related to mobility, positioning, safe transfers, exercise programs, and the use of adaptive equipment and supports.

 

Collaborate with nursing, nutritionists, direct support professionals, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and other providers to support residents’ mobility, physical functioning, safety, independence, and overall quality of life.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: A Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program, and current state licensure required. At least one (1) year of experience working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and knowledge of Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) regulations preferred.

 

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Successful completion of the criminal background check, and State Central Registry clearance.

Skills/Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, knowledge of best practices working with children and families, and demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.

 

Required Trainings: Virtus, Corporate Compliance, Defensive Driving, and trainings required as part of program licensing.
